Dental High Speed Handpiece Repair

In dental clinics, it is very common for high speed handpiece to encounter problems during use. However, replacing a high speed dental handpiece due to minor issues can be a significant burden and waste for dentists.

Therefore, it is a good solution for dentists to fix some minor problems with the highspeed handpiece themselves. Here are some common issues encountered with fast handpiece dental during use and their solutions:

① The sound is abnormal/the noise becomes louder/the rotation speed is slow/the cutting is weak/the swing is large.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. Check whether the needle is bent, deformed or blunt.

Ⅱ. Check whether the threads of the gland assembly are loose.

Ⅲ.Bearing damage

Solution:

Ⅰ. Gently twist the turbine rotor with your fingers to check whether the rotation is flexible; check that the needle swing increases.

Ⅱ. Bearing replacement.

② The head is injured, the machine cannot operate or the speed decreases, and the noise increases.

Solution:

Ⅰ. Select the corresponding model of head repair tool and rotate it for internal repair.

Ⅱ. Take out the O-ring and other accessories from the head, screw the nut onto the head, and turn it a few turns.

Ⅲ. Clean the metal powder after repair.

③ No water comes out or the amount of mist is small.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. The water supply pressure is insufficient and cannot meet the requirements.

Ⅱ. Dirt causes the water spray hole to be clogged, and there are solid particles inside.

Solution:

Ⅰ. Adjust the water volume valve knob of the instrument tray, or use the water cup water supply system of the treatment machine.

Ⅱ. Use a needle to dredge the water outlet hole, and ensure water supply to the rear when dredging.

④The needle moves and the handpiece cannot clamp the needle firmly.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. The handle of the turning needle does not meet the standard and the turning needle is thin.

Ⅱ. The clamping system is worn or damaged.

Solution: Press the cover firmly to open the jammed wedge.

⑤ There is water leakage at the tail connecting pipe and water leakage at the connection between the joint and the handpiece.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. The tail part and the connecting pipe are not tightened, and the sealing gasket is aged.

Ⅱ. The O-ring of the rotating rod is worn and the front end of the rotating rod is deformed.

Ⅲ. The inner hole of the rotating column of the mobile phone is seriously worn, or the rear compression nut is loose.

Solution:

Ⅰ. Tighten or replace the gasket.

Ⅱ. Replace the damaged O-ring and the joint.

Ⅲ. Just replace the worn parts or tighten the nuts.

⑥The needle is stuck.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. The turning needle is non-standard and the clamping is too tight after work.

Ⅱ. If stored for a long time without lubrication and drying, the needle will rust.

Solution:

Invert the gland assembly on the table, press down hard, and pull it out with the help of pliers.

If it cannot be pulled out, the movement needs to be replaced.

⑦ When drilling teeth, the needle swing becomes larger, the noise is higher and abnormal, and the bearings are often damaged.

Possible causes of failure:

Ⅰ. The O-ring covering the bearing is aging.

Ⅱ. The head cavity clearance is inappropriate.

Solution:

Ⅰ. Replace the O-ring.

Ⅱ. Check the gasket or disc spring adjustment clearance.
